Salute to the Hill: The Skyline Is Here
A Hat for Oakland's Titans
Schools are more than buildings; they are landmarks of local history, woven together by the stories of those who walked the halls, wore the colors and carried the name long after graduation.
Without a doubt, Skyline High School stands as one of those iconic Oakland institutions.
Tomorrow, we’re dropping another limited-edition snapback from The Town Colors Collection. This one arrives in Ember Red and Titanium White, paying tribute to Oakland’s Skyline High School and the legends who were made on the Hill.
The Skyline-Hillcrest Legacy
Opened in 1961 and perched high above Oakland on Skyline Boulevard in the Skyline-Hillcrest neighborhood, the school’s name has always felt fitting.
And the alumni list speaks for itself. From Tom Hanks and Gary Payton to Ledisi, Skyline has produced leaders, artists, athletes, and icons who have helped shape culture far beyond Oakland.
But for us, the story naturally starts with baseball.
Bip Roberts: Remembering the Titans
Any conversation about Skyline baseball begins with Bip Roberts.
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Leon Joseph "Bip" Roberts was a standout star at Skyline before embarking on a distinguished 12-year Major League career, which he eventually concluded back home in Oakland.
A 1992 MLB All-Star, Bip was an electric switch-hitter known for his speed. He finished his career with a .294 batting average, 1,220 hits, and 264 stolen bases.
Beyond the stats, Bip played with a joy and confidence that Oakland fans recognized instantly. He was tough, skilled, and fearless—the kind of player who could flip a game’s energy in an instant.
Perhaps most importantly, Roberts returned to Skyline in 2008 as head baseball coach, leading the Titans to an Oakland Athletic League title in his first season. To us, the mark of a legend isn't just how far they go, but whether they reach back to help the next generation.
What the Skyline Hat Represents
This colorway is a direct tribute to Skyline High and every Titan who built its legacy. By wearing it, we connect that history to the next chapter of Oakland baseball.
This isn't just a baseball cap; it’s a salute to the Hill, the Titans and every Oakland legend who started local and went global.
