GREAT FALLS, MT – A two out, two-run single in the ninth from Jake Allgeyer propelled the Oakland Ballers to a 14-12 victory over the Great Falls Voyagers on Saturday night at Voyagers Stadium to snap a four-game losing streak.
Oakland (7-10) jumped out to another big lead for a second straight night. The Ballers led by as many as seven thanks to a four-run fourth and a four-run seventh. Tremayne Cobb drove in three runs on two hits, including two with a double in the fourth. Esai Santos drove in a season-high four runs on three extra base hits, including RBI triples in the fourth and seventh. The Ballers held a 12-5 lead through six and a half innings.
Great Falls (5-12) rallied with seven runs to tie the score, including six runs in the eighth. Vincent Temesvary was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Tommy Specht hit a three-run double, Ethan Ott doubled in a run and Jordan Hamburg scored on a wild pitch to even the score at 12.
With two outs and the bases loaded, Valek Cisneros (W, 1-0) struck out Anthony Manisero swinging to keep the game tied into the ninth.
After Kevin Worek (L, 0-1) walked T.J. McKenzie, Esai Santos and Jeter Ybarra, Allgeyer grounded a go-ahead two-run single to left field, his second and third RBI of the game, to put Oakland ahead 14-12.
In his first game since taking a liner off the shin on Wednesday, Matthew Maloney (S, 1) earned his first save of the season with a scoreless ninth. A one-out single and walk put the tying runs on base but he induced a fly out from Ott and a ground out from Blake Wilhoite to seal the Ballers win.
The Ballers will look for the series victory as they conclude their three-game series on Sunday morning against the Great Falls Voyagers. First pitch is scheduled for 10:30 a.m from Voyagers Stadium. Fans can tune in beginning at 10:15 a.m on the Oakland Ballers YouTube Channel and HomeTeam Network.
