Ballers drop fourth straight on Friday night to Roadsters
Eight games remain in first half

MODESTO, CA – The Oakland Ballers dropped their fourth straight in a 7-3 loss to the Modesto Roadsters on Friday night from Modern Woodmen Field.
Oakland (16-24) took a 2-0 lead after the first inning against Modesto starting right-hander Anthony Diaz (W, 1-2). Jaden Collura drove in Esai Santos with a double to center and Nick Leehey brought home Collura with a single to put the Ballers ahead 2-0.
Modesto (25-15) answered with four runs in the second and third innings, including a three-run third. Max Handron hit a game-tying RBI double to left and Kingston Liniak lined a go-ahead two-run single to put the Roadsters in front 4-2.
Ballers starting right-hander Hunter Day (L, 0-1) made his second start since joining the team on June 22. The 24-year-old tossed 5.1 innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and five walks with one strikeout to receive the loss.
The Ballers cut the Roadsters' lead in half in the fifth on a two-out RBI single from Tremayne Cobb but he was thrown out at second trying to advance an extra base.
Diaz earned his first win of the season, pitching a season-high five innings. He allowed three runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in his second outing vs the Ballers this season.
Modesto secured the win with three runs in the eighth. Handron drove in his second run of the game with a double, Osiris Johnson singled home Handron and Justin Boyd scored Johnson on a double.
The Roadsters' bullpen of Lucas Alaniz, Blake Smith, Johan Castillo and Aaron Moreno combined for four innings of shutout relief and just three hits allowed.
Oakland grounded into four double plays and has now grounded into 15 double plays over the last four games.
